San Francisco, CA and Philadelphia, PA — July 22, 2026 — Transcarent, the first agentic AI-powered health and care platform, today announced a strategic partnership with Tendo, a next-generation healthcare technology company, to significantly expand access to high-quality surgical and specialty care for Members across the country. Transcarent is leveraging Tendo's extensive direct-contracted provider network to expand its Surgery Centers of Excellence (COE) and specialty care networks to more than 2,900 contracted sites nationwide, adding coverage across 145 additional metropolitan and micropolitan areas.
The partnership extends access to care across additional clinical categories, including colonoscopy, maternity, and other general and specialty care needs, while making it easier for Members to connect with the right care earlier in their healthcare journey. By combining expanded clinical coverage with stronger provider connectivity, Transcarent can accelerate case placement, improve access to high-quality care closer to home, and reduce the administrative burden on care teams, creating a more seamless experience for Members.
For employers, the expanded network strengthens Transcarent's comprehensive health and care platform by making high-quality care more accessible and helping to reduce healthcare costs by ensuring that when surgery is necessary, it is performed in the right setting to reduce complications, unnecessary procedures, and unwarranted variation in care.
“A Surgery Center of Excellence should begin by determining if a surgery is necessary . . . orthopedic consults, second opinions . . . and if it is, then providing rapid access to the best providers at the best facilities,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Transcarent. “For complex surgeries, that usually means a Center of Excellence and Transcarent has more contracted Centers of Excellence than anyone. For more routine surgeries and procedures, that means high-quality care close to home. This new strategic relationship allows us to expand both, which benefits our employer clients and their people.”
“At Tendo, we’re making it easier to schedule surgeries with the right providers at the right site of care," said Jennifer Goldsmith, Chief Executive Officer of Tendo. “Our mission has always been to bring transparency and trust to healthcare. By partnering with Transcarent, we’re making it easier for people to find the best care for their unique health needs, and for employers to deliver measurable value through their benefits strategy.”
With the addition of Tendo's curated provider network and data intelligence capabilities, Transcarent's COE and specialty care offerings now include nearly 3,000 top-performing sites nationwide, delivering greater geographic reach, expanded clinical breadth, and improved access without compromising quality. The result is a stronger network for employers, more care options for Members, and continued focus on quality, appropriateness, and outcomes.
“Expanding access to high-quality providers is about more than network size — it’s about making the experience work better for providers and Members alike,” said Tim Daley, SVP, Provider Relations at Transcarent. “Through this partnership with Tendo, Transcarent can help reduce administrative friction, improve connectivity across care teams, and make it easier for Members to get the right care in the right place at the right time.”
For self-insured employers, surgical procedures account for a significant portion of overall healthcare spend. According to the Business Group on Health 2026 Employer Health Care Strategy Survey, 84 percent of employers plan to adopt a COE program in 2026 to deliver access to high-quality care for employees1. With a focus on providers and sites of care that practice high-quality, efficient care, COEs control rising costs, reduce complications, and provide employees with a better experience.
Transcarent addresses the widespread variability in cost, quality, and outcomes by focusing on getting Members the appropriate care, whether that’s a surgery or not. With an average savings of $17,943 per surgical episode, Transcarent Surgery Care starts with expert clinical review to ensure every Member is on the right care path. Nurse-led care coordination, bundled pricing, and a fully integrated experience support Members every step of the way. The result is fewer unnecessary surgeries, better outcomes, and a lower total cost of care.
